August Pals Blog Hop

My 3-D project for the hop this month is a decorated box.  I had a plain old brown box in my craft closet that was looking for some love.  First I covered it with some designer paper, sponged the edges and then decorated it with ... flowers, of course.  I was actually looking for something different but thought flowers would look good on a gift box.  This will hold a special birthday present for a special person.  Each side has a different flower on it.

Paper Players sketch challenge

The Paper Players have a sketch challenge this week that I wanted to participate in.  I had a vision in my mind of what I wanted.  I started cutting paper and putting everything together and my end result was not exactly what I thought it would be.  The flowers look a bit weird being cut apart.  Oh well, live and learn on what works and what doesn't.

Stamps:  Build A Blossom

Paper:  white, black

DSP:  paper pack from Hobby Lobby

Ink:  Black, Marina Mist

Accessories:  polka dot embossing folder, brads, dazzling diamonds, ribbon (non-SU)

The picture does not do this card any justice.  The black looks much better in real life.  I think because the photograph was dark and I lightened it up with my photo shop program, that it dimmed the card color.

Reach for that embossing folder

This week at the Pals Paper Arts we want everyone to break out an embossing folder, or anything that you can emboss with, and have some fun with it.

I went with flowers for my embossing.  I still have spring on my mind and am still thinking bright happy colors.  The 'ole inky fingers had fun creating and came up this ...

• I used a piece of scrap paper and a sponge dauber to make the birdcage look like it was sitting on a table rather than floating in the air. 
• I saw this layout somewhere while reading the blogs I follow and can't find it now to give that person credit.  To the designer of this layout, I loved it and thanks for sharing it and if you are reading this, please give yourself credit.
• I added three little pearls in the top corner since it looked so empty.

Let's see some scallops ...

It's Thursday, so that means it is time for another Pals Paper Arts challenge.  This week we have a fun one for you to participate in ... it's all about scallops.  No need to fret ... keep it clean and simple.  Be sure to check-out the rest of DT's gorgeous cards.  Here is the inspiration photo to get the juices flowing ....

I wanted to use my new Build a Blossom stamp set and punch.  It worked wonderfully well for this week's theme of scallops.  My petals actually mimic the oyster shells.  (Those are oysters? Right?)  Here is what the 'ole inky fingers created this week ...

I looked at this card and thought, should I add leaves or a stem?  After a few moments of looking at it, I decided I liked it plain.  I just love the look of the flower and didn't want to take away from it.  Ahhh, clean and simple is so much fun!
