Happy New Year

No card today only good wishes to all my family and friends!  It has been an incredible year for me in the way of crafting.  I became a Stampin' Up Demo, to get the discount on my supplies.  I was introduced to a wonderful group of Pals and made some great blogging friends along the way!  Thank you for stopping by this Wacky blog and leaving the best comments ever!  You know how to make a girl's day!

I am already looking forward to 2011 in the way of stamping.  I will have some exciting news to share.

May 2011 bring everyone good health and happiness!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

An Aspirin a day ...

Today's card was given to my stamping buddy's husband who had to have surgery earlier this month.  I thought this stamp worked perfectly for what I wanted.  Unfortunately, he had to have bypass surgery and one of the requirements after this surgery is to take an aspirin everyday.

Stamps:  House Mouse, Simple Sayings
Paper:  Creamy Carmel, Really Rust, Close to Cocoa, White
Ink:  Really Rust, Black
Accessories:  ticket punch, button brad (non SU), Prismacolor markers
All supplies are SU unless otherwise noted.

A very simple card and I was pleased with the end result.  Sometimes the stamped image is all you need to show off.

I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and got everything you wanted.  I did and had a great time with my family.  We had a beautiful white Christmas ... about 4 inches of snow.

Very unusual for those of us in Alabama.  We couldn't get to the early bird specials yesterday because of the weather.  So this morning it is off to the mall to see what kind of bargains we can find.

Have a great day,
Pam~

PPA 74 ... Sketch Challenge

I know I always say this is a wonderful sketch to work with and I'll use it again. Well, this sketch was so much fun to play with.  It can be a simple card or you could really dress it up.  Margaret Moody pulled a great sketch out of her magic hat this week.  Click on over to Pals Paper Arts and join in the fun.  Also, don't miss out on the event of the season when Pals Paper Arts unveils it's Best Dressed List for 2010 on December 30th.  See which of the previous Artist Picks makes the cut as the Best of the Best!

Here is the sketch for this week ...
Ppa74
Now here is what I created ...

Stamps:  Flower Fancy, Flight of the Butterfly
Paper:  Concord Crush, Pear Pizzazz, Peach Parfait, Very Vanilla
DSP:  Concord Crush
Ink:  Concord Crush, Pear Pizzazz, Peach Parfait
Accessories:  Butterfly punch, pearls, dauber, dimensional, polka dots embossing folder, stamp-a-ma-jig
All supplies are Stampin' Up.
  • Flower Fancy is a two-step stamping set ... love it!
  • Used the stamp-a-ma-jig for the inside flower and leaves.
  • Pearls were added to the center of the flower for dimension.
I was really pleased with outcome of this card.  Thanks for stopping by and I hope you and your families have a wonderful and safe holiday!

Merry Christmas,

Just Chit Chat

I don't have a card to post today.

I don't know what my stamping and blogging days will be like for the next week, so while I have a few minutes, I wanted to wish everyone a VERY Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!  Thank you so much for the great gift of visiting my blog and leaving the best comments ever!  You all are the best and I enjoy visiting your blogs too!

I was up really early again today because .... another mouse in the house.  Hmmm, it's looking like there might be more to the saying "where there is one there are two ..."  Once again, my hero (hubby) donned the gloves and caught the little critter and let him loose outside where he belongs.  He looked just like the last one ... could it be???

I also wanted to thank the gals over at The Paper Players for picking my card as a Cut Above.  I was so surprised and excited!  Thank you so much.  They host great challenges so be sure and check them out.

Merry Christmas,
Pam~

Christmas Card #3

Today's card is my third Christmas card that was made for 2010.  I did actually make some others, but did not photograph them before sending it off ... oops.  I had a blast making my cards this year, but am ready to move onto other themes and stamp sets.

The final one ...

Stamps:  Jolly Old St. Nick
Paper:  Bashful  Blue, Cherry Cobbler, Wild Wasabi, White
DSP:  Bashful Blue
Ink:  Black, Cherry Cobbler
Accessories:  Nestabilities circle/scalloped dies, brads, Prismacolor markers, daubers
All products are SU unless otherwise noted.

I making this post short and sweet today... I'm pretty tired this evening.  I was at Belk Department store at 5:50 a.m. this morning.  They were giving away gift cards to the first 250 customers.  My lucky husband and daughter's card was worth $100 ... mine $5. Ok, I was the loser this morning, though I did have fun shopping and then meeting some good friends for breakfast.

Until next time ...

Christmas card No. 2

Happy Friday!  I had a great day shopping with Bethany yesterday.  We got a lot accomplished and had a lot of laughs.  It has definitely put me in the Christmas spirit now that we are all together.  Now I just need to wrap our purchases ... that is what tomorrow is for.

The card I'm posting today is one of my Christmas cards that I sent out to my family and friends.  I made three different cards and actually posted one earlier here.  That one was made for a color challenge.  I liked it so much that I made more.  For today's card, I used the same set, just a different stamp from it.

Stamps:  Jolly Old St. Nick
Paper:  Cherry Cobbler, Very Vanilla
DSP:  Jolly Holiday
Ink:  Old Olive, Black
Accessories:  oval punch, corner punch, Old Olive ribbon, Prismacolor markers and pencils, snowflake from cricut cartridge, brad, sponge, Stickles
All products are SU unless otherwise noted.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

Pals Paper Arts Challenge

Hello Thursday and hello to a touch of warmer weather.  Yesterday, along with the past week, was quite brutal here in Alabama.  They let the schools out early due the threat of ice.   We did get some ice but not as bad as I thought it would be.  The good of all this cold weather, I got to stay inside and create.  I've been working on some Christmas presents for friends.  I also took some time to make a card for the Pals Paper Arts challenge this week...Get Your Lace in Place.

Here is the inspiration photo ...

Lace 2

Here is my take on using some lace on my card ...

Stamps:  I {heart} Hearts
Paper:  Real Red, Black, White
DSP:  Black
Ink:  Real Red, Black
Accessories:  brads (non SU), lace (non-SU), mat pack
  • The layout came from Gina K.'s  Stamp TV Sketch Spotlight (STVSKSP6).
  • I must admit that I am not a lace kind of person.  I dug through my mother's sewing stuff and found this red lace.  After playing with the lace, I liked the outcome of it.
  • I actually used my mat pack for the brad placements.  It took me a few minutes to realize that one of the brads is not centered on its prongs, therefore it looks crooked on my card.
Thanks for stopping by and I hope you get a chance to play over at the Pals lace challenge.

Have a great day,

Pam~

Baby It's Cold Outside ...

It is really cold outside today, 25 degrees and that is the high, so I'm thinking warmth.  When thinking of warm weather, my mind goes to the sun, green grass and flowers.  With that thought in my head and wanting to play with The Paper Players challenge, I headed to my craft room for some stamping fun.

Today I decided to use some of my goodies that have not seen any action in a long time, probably since I became a SU Demonstrator.  I blew off the dust, had a good sneeze, and started getting inky fingers. Well, not everything was dusty, the stamp set is actually new. I received an early Christmas present and just had to use it.

Stamps:  Floral Wreath by Gina K.
Paper:  Bazzill, SU White
Ink:  Black
Accessories:  SU Pearls, Cuttlebug swirls embossing folder, ribbon, Nestabilities oval and scalloped dies, Prismacolor markers

I was really pleased with how this card came out and had so much fun coloring the flowers.

I hope everyone stays nice and warm!  Have a great day!

PPA 72 - Fashion Inspiration

Like everyone else out there this time of year, we are all so busy.  I wanted to take a few minutes away from shopping and wrapping presents to make a card for the Pals Paper Arts challenge this week.  Here is the inspiration photo ...

Winter White Cropped

I've always admired the folks out there that can put a card together in 10 minutes.  I thought, I'm going to try this...once again.  Well, I still cannot put together a card in 10 minutes ... lol.   Today's card was created in about an hour ... I'm slow I know.  My daughter is always giving me a hard time about my procrastination on what I want to do next to the card.  I'm forever doing something and then taking it apart and trying something else.  That was the case of this card too.  Here is my finished quick, clean and simple card ...

Stamps:  Jolly Old St. Nick, Curly Cute
Paper:  White, Sahara Sand
Ink:  Sahara Sand, Bashful Blue Marker
Accessories:  Rhinestones, Dazzling Diamonds, dauber, blender pen, CB swiss dots embossing folder, white ribbon (non-SU)
All products are SU unless otherwise noted.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend!

MOJO 168 sketch

Another great sketch this week from Julee over at Mojo Monday - The Blog.  This was a fun one!  Since I'm done with my Christmas cards...yea..I decided to make a wintery card.

Here is the sketch ...

I changed a few things but not too many.  I turned my card the other direction for starters and from there the only other change was the little square.  I used a label die and put it at any angle.

Below is my card ...

Stamps:  Cold & Cuddly
Paper:  Old Olive, Cherry Cobbler, Very Vanilla
DSP:  Jolly Holiday
Ink:  Old Olive, Cherry Cobbler, Marina Mist
Accessories:  Prismacolor markers, rhinestones, Nestabilities square and label two dies, Old Olive ribbon
All products are SU unless otherwise noted.

I tried using Picasa 3 for my picture enhancements.  From the looks of "fixing" it, I need a lot of practice.  I lost the sharpness of the photo ... it looks blurry to me.  I undid everything and tried again but don't think it turned out much better.  I think I would have been better off had I not changed anything ... lol.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a great day!

Christmas Tags ...

It's freezing outside so that has definitely put me in the Christmas spirit today.  To make the day even better, there are some great challenges out there to play with.  The tags below are for The Paper Players Christmas theme challenge this week.  I wanted to make some quick tags so I can mass produce them without taking too much time.  Hmmm...is that being lazy or helping manage my time?  I'm opting for the second thought. :)

Stamps:  Holiday Helpers
Paper:  White
Ink:  Staz-On Black, Real Red
Accessories:  Prismacolor markers, Nestabilities scalloped circle die, fuzzy yarn (non-SU), sponge, crop-a-dile
  • This is retired set from SU (1999) that I just love to this day.
Now I'm off to go stamp some more.  Woohoo, I love days that I can spend in my craft room and play.  Maybe I should use the word design or create so that my hubby doesn't think I sit around and play all day.

Have a great day,
Pam~

Exciting start to the day

It's Saturday morning and I am awake bright and early.  Not cause I want to be but because there was a mouse in my bedroom.  I was awakened at 3:48 a.m. to a noise of cords moving behind my night stand.  I turned on the light and saw the little sucker run out.  Thank God for husbands who keep calm and will catch the critter.  My kitty, Angel, must have already had enough of mouse chasing cause it didn't interest her much.  My wonderful protective whippets got scared when I screamed and left the room.  Through the drama my husband stood by my side with his gloves on ready to capture our new resident.  After an hour or so of mouse hunting in the bedroom and bathroom, my gloved hero grabbed the mouse and released him back into the woods.  Terry got right back into bed but oh not me.  My mind is thinking where there is one there are two ... I think I hear another one ... what if there are babies ... oh no we might have a house full of mice.  So I decided to blog ...

This card is for my niece.  Unfortunately, her little town of Thomson, GA, is having a rough week.  One of her good friends, 17 years old, was tragically killed in a car accident this week.

Stamps:  With All My Heart
Paper:  Daffodil Delight, Chocolate Chip, Not Quite Navy, Bashful Blue, Certainly Celery
Ink:  Not Quite Navy
Accessories:  Cuttlebug Victorian embossing folder, mat pack, scalloped border punch, five petal flower punch, word window punch, rhinestones
All products are SU unless otherwise noted.

  • I stamped the medallion and then used the five flower punch.  The edges were sponged to give it depth.
  • This is a CASE from the November 2007 Paper Crafts magazine by M. Robson.
  • I changed the colors, embossing, flowers, sentiment and added bling.
Sometimes looking through online sites or magazines and semi-CASEing a card helps return the mojo of stamping.  I have done so many Christmas cards, I needed some inspiration to get the creative bug working again.

Have a great day,
Pam~
