Happy New Year

In between wrapping presents I sat down at my craft table and created my New Year's card.  I stopped by Tuesday Morning Sketches for my inspiration.

Stamps:  Adult Beverages (Simon Says); Warm Woolen Mittens (GKD)
Paper:  White, Black, Cherry Cobbler (SU)
DP:  Black & White (Paper Studio)
Ink:  silver (Stampabilities); Versafine
Accessories:  oval & scallop dies (Spellbinders); clear embossing powder (Stampendous); glitter (GKD); pearls (SU); Copic

Here is the sketch from Tuesday Morning ...

I stamped and embossed the glasses, added a touch of color with a Copic marker, put down some glue and glitter to make them festive.  Silver ink was added to the edges of the scalloped oval and sprinkled with clear embossing powder to match the glasses.  Happy New Year was also embossed to match the rest of the card.

Thanks for stopping by and as always ... have a great day!

Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year to all!

Birthday Hoot ...

Popping in with another card.  This one is for MOJO Monday.  I flipped the middle panel to work better with Mr. Hooty.  Thought this card turned out cute until I colored the gray under his feet.  Wanted to make him looked grounded but messed it up.  Sometimes I just need to put those Copics down and be finished.  Oh well, it still was given away.

Stamps:  Birthday Hoot (GKD)
Paper:  White, Basic Black, Purple (SU)
DP:  Bright & Basics (Recollections)
Ink:  Memento Black; Mustard Seed (Holtz)
Accessories:  Copics; flowers (Prima); brads (Paper Studio); border punch (M. Stewart); glossy accents (Ranger); glitter pen (Sakura); clear embossing powder (Zing); corner rounder (WRMK)

Here is the sketch that got me started ...

Is it Big Bird ...

Phew, it has been a long time since I've blogged.  There has been a lot going on in our lives this summer and I had to step away for a while.  My husbands mother passed away in a house fire and it definitely took a toll on all of us in different ways.

On to better things ... a card!  I've actually stamped some over the last few months and may upload some of those later.  For today, I played along with Tuesday Morning Sketches ... one of my favs!

Stamps:  Vertical Greetings 2 (GKD)
Paper:  White (SU); Black, Yellow (Michaels)
Ink:  Onyx Black (Versafine); Mustard Seed, Weathered Wood, Broken China, Tea Dye (T. Holtz)
Accessories:  clear embossing powder, paint brush (Hobby Lobby); Ironwork accents (Spellbinders); sponge (T. Holtz); glitter pen (Sakura); gems (SU); polka dot embossing folder (CuttleBug)

Here is the inspiration photo ...

This picture does not do the glitter any justice.  Kinda looks drabby here but in real life, it looks so much better. I haven't picked up the camera in so long that I don't know how to take a decent picture. Lol  The gems were colored with a yellow Copic marker.  The bird panel was watercolored with the distress inks.

Thanks for stopping by and as always ...

Have a great day,

Basket of Fun ...

This project is for the second challenge over at StampTV for the April Guest Designer.  The challenge this week is anything but a flat card.  I made a birthday card that holds a candy bar.

Picture number one ...

Stamps:  Beyond Baskets, Basket Additions 2, Pretty Patterns (GKD)
Paper:  Early Espresso, Regal Rose, White (SU)
Ink:  Memento Black; Versamark; Regal Rose (SU)
Accessories: Copics; pewter embossing powder, gems (SU); rectangle and scallop dies (Spellbinders)

Picture number two ... the inside ...

Picture number three ...

The size of this card is 7 1/4 x 3 1/2.  I found the directions to make this on scor-pal.com.  The gems are colored with a Copic marker to match the brown cardstock.

I've been away from stamping and blogging for a bit.  My son is home for spring break.  We actually had a gorgeous day so went and played some golf.  Heading back out to hit the links again tomorrow so really wanted to get this card completed and posted.

Hello ... Spring

It is that time again to have some fun with Gina K.'s challenges for the April guest design team.  Challenge number one ... use a technique from Gina's videos and make it feel like Spring.  Here is my take ...

Stamps:  Vertical Greetings & Things (GKD)
Paper:  Black, White
Ink:  Memento Black; Warm Lipstick, Broken China (T. Holtz)
Accessories:  Copics; wax paper; ribbon, pop dots (SU); swirl & textile embossing folder (CuttleBug)

I used Gina's video on using wax paper as your background.  For more details on how it works, check out the video here.  This was my first time to do this and I loved it.  Will definitely use it again.

Have a great day!

Holey Challenge ...

Stamp TV has a great challenge this week ... your paper has to have a hole in it. I used my oval dies to create my holes.

Stamps:  Farm Life, Heartfelt (GKD)
Paper:  Baja Breeze, Island Indigo, White (SU)
Inks:  Memento Black
Accessories:  Copics; Baker's twine, pop dots (SU); oval dies (Spellbinders); honeycomb embossing folder (Darice); button (Michaels)

I dry embossed my piece of Island Indigo with the honeycomb embossing folder.  Next I used a Copic marker to shade just the left side of each honeycomb.  I saw this technique over at Darlene Designs and thought it gave it so much depth.

You're a Star ...

I'm on a roll ... another card to post.  I went to Freshly Made Sketches to see what they were offering up this week.  After seeing the sketch, I decided I was going to keep it as simple as possible.  So, here it is ...

Stamps:  Quite a Catch (GKD)
Paper:  White, Black
DP:  chevron patterns (Recollections)
Ink:  Memento Black
Accessories:  Copics; glitter pen (Sakura); pop dots (SU)

I have a stamping friend, Benzi, who makes the best CAS (clean and simple) cards.  She was my inspiration for this card.  The most time consuming part of this card...cutting out that cute starfish.  Have to admit that I wanted to add more paper, embellishments, etc. to cover some of that white space.  In the end, I'm happy with it and hope to whip out more CAS cards.

Thanks for stopping by and as always ...

Have a great day!

Hoping for Spring ...

I'm looking forward to seeing some flowers.  This card was for two different challenges ... Tuesday Morning Sketches and Mod Squad Challenge.  I'm a few days late posting so it wasn't entered into either one.  I spent time with my daughter and not the computer.

Stamps:  flower (GKD ... from a grab bag)
Paper:  Green (Recollections); White, Bashful Blue (SU)
DP:  Bright & Basic (Recollections)
Ink:  Memento Black
Accessories:  Copics; ribbon (Hobby Lobby); pearls, sponge dauber (SU); rectangle dies (Spellbinders)

I actually made a card today so hopefully I'll get a picture taken and uploaded before the challenge ends. (smile)

Another Valentine ...

One more Valentine to show and then I'm done.  This one will be going to my hubby.  My starting point was heading over to the Mod Squad Challenge Blog to see what they had up this week.  It's a Valentine challenge with some glitter.  This is the front of the card ...

Now for the inside ...

Stamps:  Monica Romances (House Mouse)
Paper:  Red (Bazzil); White, Black (SU)
DP:  Christmas Noel (Recollections)
Ink:  Memento Black
Accessories:  Copics; Printing 101 cartridge (Cricut); flourish die, dazzling diamonds, stickles (SU); circle dies (Spellbinders); glitter pen (Sakura)

Unfortunately, you cannot see the glitter on this card at all.  On the front I used cherry cobbler stickles on the little heart.  Each letter on the inside is colored with a glitter pen as are the little white hearts.  The bigger heart has dazzling diamonds on it.  This is one of those cards that looks completely different in real life.  This card measures 3.5" x 5.5".

The card design came from Splitcoast Stampers ... a Building Block card.  Click here for directions.

Birthday challenge ...

The folks over at Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps are hosting a new challenge on Friday's.  This week it is to use the word Birthday on your card.  I found the perfect sketch over at Pals Paper Arts.

Stamps:  Cocoa's Gift, Love From Cocoa (Sweet 'n Sassy)
Paper:  Perfect Plum, White, Sage Shadow (SU)
DP:  Bold Basics (Recollections)
Ink:  Memento Black, Perfect Plum (SU)
Accessories:  rectangle dies (Spellbinders), Copics, blender pen, rhinestones (SU)

Here is the sketch ...
PPA189_Jan_23
I used the blender pen to color the box.  I wanted something that wasn't smooth looking.  I guess I got the effect I was looking for.  Hmm, been using that sponge dauber a lot lately.  This card will be going to my purple loving neice for her 20th birthday.

Have a great day,

First Valentine's card ...

Posting my first Valentine's card of the year.  My inspiration for this cutie came from the Mod Squad Challenge Blog and MOJO Monday's sketch.

Stamps:  Love From Cocoa (Sweet 'n Sassy)
Paper:  White, Rose Red, Not Quite Navy (SU)
Ink:  Memento Black, Rose Red (SU)
Accessories:  Lacey and circle dies (Spellbinders), Copics, heart and polka dot embossing folder (CuttleBug), wooden heart, ribbon, gem

The Mod Squad challenge was to use some kind of wood on your card...paper, emblishment, etc.   I went with a little wooden heart.  Here is the sketch from MOJO this week ...

I made my background by rubbing my ink pad directly on the embossing folder and then running it through my Cuttlebug.

Guest Challenge #3 for GKD

The third challenge for the Gina K. design team is to make some tags.  I've only made a handful of tags before so this was a lot fun to play along with.

Stamps:  You've Got Style (GKD)
Paper:  Crumb Cake, White, Concord Crush (SU)
DP:  Wisteria Lane (GKD)
Ink:  Memento Black
Accessories:  Copics, label four, oval, circle and scallop dies (Spellbinders), word window and modern label punch, pearls, Old Olive ribbon, pop dots (SU), glitter pen (Sakura), ribbon, eyelet, brad (H.L.), prima flowers (unknown), corner rounder (WRMK)

Below are individual pictures of each tag ...

I made each tag by inserting only the top of the crumb cake cardstock into the top of the Label Four die.  I pulled the bottom portion of the paper through the die so it would not be cut.  I added an eyelet to the top center and now I have the perfect tag to decorate.

Thanks for stopping by and as always ...

Have a great day,

Pam~

Guest Challenge #2 for GKD

This card is for Gina K.'s February Guest Designer challenge number two.  It is to make a shaped card.  Ok, this was a challenge for me on decorating it.

Stamps:  Sweet Strawberries (GKD)
Paper:  White, Red
DP:  Poppy Prints (GKD)
Ink:  Memento Black
Accessories:  Label ten dies, oval and scallop dies (Spellbinders), Copics, ribbon, black gems (Michaels)

I knew that I wanted to use Spellbinders Labels Ten as my card base.  I cut three of the largest dies ... two white and one out of the designer paper.  I also knew I wanted to use the glass since it is the perfect shape for this card.  My problem was layering it all to look decent.  This was a project that I had pictured in my head before I ever started, except it didn't come out quite like I had envisioned, but I still like it.  Always fun to stamp out of your comfort zone.

Thanks for stopping by and as always ...

Have a great day!

A new challenge blog out there ...

Two posts in one day!  Some of the folks at Stamp TV have started a new challenge blog ... woo hoo .. Mod Squad Challenge Blog.  Their first challenge were to use a few of Cat's favorite things.  I am also entering this card into Tuesday Morning Sketches

Stamps:  Need for Speed, Lighthouse (SU)
Paper:  Cajun Craze, Vanilla (SU)
DP:  Well Worn (SU)
Ink:  Weathered Wood Distress (T. Holtz)
Accessories:  brads, twine, spong dauber, distressing tool

Here are a few of Cat's favorite things ...

1. Distressed edges
2. Ribbon
3. Die Cuts
4. Pearl stickers
5. Twine
6. Metallic Rubs
7. Layering of an image
8. Charms
9. Copic coloring of an image
10. Use of Distress Inks
11. Kraft card stock
12. Buttons

Out of the list, your card should have at least three of Cat's favs.  I distressed the edges of my papers, used twine, layered my image, and used distress ink.  I went with a simple masculine birthday card for my brother.  I don't like to make bulky cards when they have to be mailed.  This one will be heading to NJ.

My sketch inspiration came from this ...
