Spring is the air today...

I have found a few minutes to sit and share another card.  It has been a busy and good week.  The weather has improved drastically.  Yesterday I went golfing with my hubby.  It was sunny and 60 degrees...can't beat that.  The weather was better than my golfing, but still had a good time.  Today is gorgeous too...went for a jog with Bethany and Michael washed my car.  He's looking for $$ and my car is clean...we both win.

The card I'm posting today is a sympathy card that I sent to a friend who's mother passed away.  I just got this set, Thoughs & Prayers.  I love the branch with the flowers and the tree.  The only ink used was perfect plum.  I wanted something simple but pretty.  The cardstock is also perfect plum...and white. I hope this card brought a bit of comfort to her and her family.

Sorry the picture is a bit on the dark side.  I realized as I was getting ready to mail it, I had not taken a picture of it.  I didn't get the lighting right so there is a lot of shadow.

I hope everyone has an enjoyable weekend.

No card today...

Dang, no card to show today.  It has been a very busy week getting everything together for our soccer tournament this weekend.  I'm in Orange Beach, AL with Michael's varsity soccer team.  This is my favorite tournament to come to.  The sand on the Gulf is gorgeous!

I hope next week I will be able to venture upstairs to the stamping table and have something to show you.  I've seen some great layouts and challenges this week that I would like to play with.

Have a great weekend.

Oh Little Bird...

I ended up going down to UAB yesterday to help Bethany celebrate her birthday.  We had a great day going out to lunch and shopping.  After shopping when we I took her back to her dorm, all of her buddies had a surprise party for her...and surprised she was.  She has a wonderful circle of friends and loves the college life.

The drive home was another story.  About 15 minutes into my drive I hit snow/sleet showers and the temp was dropping fast.  You have to remember that we are not prepared for this kind of weather in Alabama and don't see if often so we "freak out" pretty fast.  The last ten miles were extremely slick and tense for me and I was very thankful that there were no car problems and I got home safely.  What started out as a bummer of a day turned out to be wonderful!

The card that I'm sharing today I have made for my nephew.  I used the Splitcoast Sketch Challenge 266 for this layout.  I have to admit that this one was a challenge for me.  I just couldn't seem to get everything to flow together.

My cardstock used on this card are white, sage shadow, bravo burgandy and creamy carmel.  I used the same color inks...sage shadow and bravo burgandy.

I used lots of punches...photo corner, word window, modern label, and the circle.  I ran by sage shadow panel through my cuttlebug using the branches embosssing folder.  The stamp set is called Asian Artistry which is a level two hostesss set.  I colored the bird using my SU! chalks.  I felt like the card needed a little bling so added some brads.

Thanks for stopping by today and reading my blog.  I'm starting to get the hang of this and like it.  Thank you for the comments and I do read each one.

Now it is off to get my haircut and a stop at Sam's to pick-up some odds and ends.  Have a great day!

Another winter day...so tired of this

I can't believe we got snow again and they talk about global warming.  We rarely get snow and this winter we have had snow at least five times already..ugh!  Today I'm supposed to go to UAB to see Bethany for her 19th birthday...can't believe my daughter is 19.  As I sit here, looking out my bedroom window at the snow covered roofs and ground, I am so disappointed.  I check out the road in front of my house and it looks clear.  Wait, what are they saying...the roads are covered with black ice and they have shut down the interstates and bridges...another ugh.  Since I will not be able to see my daughter today and I will just have to escape to my room of solace and make something for her.

Enough of my pity party and on to something brighter...my card.   I made this for the Splitcoast Sketch Challenge 267.  I needed a card for a soccer parent to say thanks.  This layout was perfect...quick and simple.  I didn't realize until I uploaded this card that there was not any stamping on the outside of it.

The GHS are initials for the high school...Grissom High School.  Even though this card looks a bit like halloween, these are the school colors.  I was hoping by adding ribbon and brads that it would take the halloween look.

I used my Cuttlebug to emboss the white panel.  I sponged the edges next to soften them.  The 'ole CB also cut out my stars.  The GHS was made by using my Cricut and the George cartridge.  For something different, I used textured cardstock from Bazzill.

Thanks for stopping by and I enjoy reading your comments.  Have a great day,

Pam~

Fews days away....I did get to play

I impressed myself with two posts in one day and then stepped away for a while.  Even though I didn't post anything, I have been playing in my craft room and having fun.  Thursday is my usual craft day with Monica  and crafting we did.  I made the card below for the PPA29 challenge.

A few details:  I used White, Brocade Blue and Night of Navy cardstock.  My designer paper is from the SU! pack of Brocade Blue...just love how everything matches so well.  For ink, I used  Brocade Blue, Night of Navy and Garden Green.

I ran the white paper through my cuttlebug with the Stylized Flowers embossing folder.  I used my new clear mount stamp set Vintage Vogue from Stampin' Up!  I stamped one flower in Brocade Blue and then two in Night of Navy.  I cut out the Night of Navy flowers and leaves and adhered those with glue dots.  For my round border, I wanted something different so I punched out five little circles and then glued them behind the Friends panel.  A little more work but worth it once I saw the end result.

Quick note...if you are unsure about the new clear mount stamps, let me tell you they are fabulous.  They stamp just like the wood mounted ones.  Not only is the storage much better but it is so neat being able to put the image right where you want it without a stamp-a-ma-jig.

Once again the Pals at Pals Paper Arts came up with a great sketch.  I'm sure I will use this layout again...clean looking and simple to put together with great results.  Thanks Pals!  If you are interested in playing along, check out their website here.

The high school soccer season has started here so now I get to watch my son, Michael, play.  I love going to his games and cheering everyone on.  Our first game was Friday night and it was so cold out there...and they call this spring soccer.  The players are good, but I know they will get even better over this season.  They did win their game so it made sitting out there freezing a little better.

Happy Valentine's Day to everyone!

Time to send some hearts out

I made this card for the MOJO Monday 125 challenge.  When I first looked at the sketch I was thinking, this is going to be a difficult one.  Oh my gosh, it was so much fun!

I used my Cricut to cut the red cardstock, nestabilities and my cuttlebug for the circles, my new SU! punch for the label and  my new SU! clear mount stamps for the heart .  Woohoo, lots of goodies to create this beauty.  My bow is a bit large and I'm hoping it doesn't overwhelm the card too much.  Not real good with bows and this one looked good so I quickly pop dotted that baby right in place.

This card (made two) is on it's way to my brother's and their family for Valentine's Day.  If you all are reading this, act surprised when you open your envelope.  It does look better in real life.

Had a great afternoon stamping and then it got a bit hectic around here.  The rain started and the photographer didn't show to take the soccer team pictures.  I was disappointed that the studio didn't bother to call and let us know that they were not coming.  Do you know how hard it can be trying to tell 44 guys to sit around and wait after being in school all day?  Going to try and get the photographer out again tomorrow.

Wow, two posts in one day...impressing myself.  Thanks for stopping by...

Purple and Yellow Challenge

The card below is for a challenge that Kris at Kween Bee Kreation, http://kweenbee.typepad.com/kweenbee/ , offered.  Her challenge was to use purple and yellow.  Stop on by her blog and check out the details.  I used Perfect Plum and More Mustard for my colors.  When I went to cut my paper, I messed up and cut at the wrong place so the card became a  5 x 5 square.  I ended up liking the end result.

This card is for Bethany's birthday...can't believe my daughter is going to be 19!  She came home from college this weekend so we celebrated a week early.  Her birthday is February 15th but she wants to stay down at college and celebrate with friends next weekend.  Gotta love the college life.

I used the new Sale-a-Bration set Happy Moments.  This card ended up having a lot of details that I was not expecting.  I made another mistake below the cake so punched a piece of perfect plum card stock with the word window, added some brads, and my boo boo is hidden.  That is the great thing about creating cards, you can make a mistake but your card is not ruined.  Many times your error ends up making your card look even better.  The purple flower on the right is a brad.  I used my crop-a-dile and added another brad to the middle.  I also used another Sale-a-Bration item...the scallop border punch.  It is so easy to use and adds so much detail...love it.

Thanks for stopping by. I need to get off my laptop and get ready so that I can get something accomplished on this wonderful Monday. I hope everyone has a great day!

Super Bowl Sunday...Game Night

I'm getting ready to watch  football and eat some wings with my family.  Before the excitement begins, I wanted to share my brother's birthday card.  It has actually been up on Splitcoast but I couldn't put it on my blog until he received it.  Got a text this morning that he got his birthday card.yesterday...yeah!  The last card I sent him took eight days to get there.  The darn horse and buggy was slow leaving Alabama and must have had a hard time getting to New Jersey.

I made this using the MOJO124 layout.  Click on the MOJO box on the left side of my blog to go see the great layouts!

The stamps sets I used were Card Games and Game Night.  Think these sets are pretty cool and make a great masculine card.  Some SU! sets really catch your eye and this one did for me.  I think you can do so much with either one of these alone or together.

I have more cards to show but will do that tomorrow.  The game is about to start and I need to go pick-up our wings.  I'm pulling for the Saints tonight.

Enjoy your evening...

Awww...love birds

Even though the weather was not very good to be outside, it was a great day to stay inside and stamp.  Guess what I did...just that!  My stamping bud, Monica, came over and we got to "play" all day.  Well, we did take a lunch break and go get our usual crafting meal...Chic-Fil-A.

I made some Valentine's today but can only post my hubby's right now.  I wanted something sweet but not too frilly.  He does not do frilly at all...only wants manly man cards.  I think this one will qualify.  What do you think?

I used the Love You Much set for this card.  I colored the "love birds" with my prisma markers.  The little heart was colored directly on the stamp with a Ruby Red marker.  I used the Splitcoast Sketch Challenge 265 for this layout.

The present man in the cute brown uniform came and visited me yesterday.  He was a great site for my eyes...that big brown box he was carrying made my heart skip a beat and my feet move a bit faster.  Stampin' Up! even has a saying on their box, "Caution: opening box may cause extreme excitement."   How right they are!  Needless to say, I was full of excitement.  Now I just need to find more time to play with all my goodies.

It is now time to head downstairs and start making dinner.  Hope to come back to my wonderful craft room later this evening and see if there is more creativity for me today.

Have a great day/evening,

Pam~

An apple a day...keeps the dentist away

I made this card for our dentist as a thank you for sponsoring my son's high school soccer team.  So I guess I really don't want to keep the dentist away.  Acutally, my dentist is a great guy and we love him.

I used the For Father set and colored it with my prisma markers.  I distressed the edges to give it a rustic look.  I used my cuttlebug to dry emoboss the background.

I think this set is great for making masculine cards.  It is also so much fun to color and I love to color.  Some things you just never grow out of and mine was coloring.

Now it is off to do some soccer work and hopefully this afternoon or evening (while watching the Bachelor), I can make a card.  I need to start making some valentines for my family and friends.  I'm anxiously awaiting for the present man to come with my new supplies.  :)  I have some ideas but the goodies just have not arrived yet.

Have a great day and enjoy your family and friends!
