A colorful sketch ...

Today I went shopping and out to lunch with my best friend.  I found a great bargain and couldn't wait to get home and use it.  While at a craft store, I found a Sizzix package with 2 embossing folders and a die for $8.52 ... walk out the door price!  Woo hoo ... I love a a good deal!  I was already working on a card for Freshly Made Sketches and The Paper Players and knew my new embossing folder would work perfectly.

This is the sketch ...

This is the color challenge ...

Put the two together and I got this ...

Stamps:  Cold & Cuddly, Penguin Pals
Paper:  Always Artichoke, Riding Hood Red, White
DSP:  River Rock
Ink:  River Rock, Riding Hood Red, Always Artichoke, Bashful Blue
Accessories:  corner rounder, sponge dauber, pop dots, Prisma Color pencil, Nestabilities oval and square dies, Sizzix snowflake embossing folder
All products are Stampin' Up unless otherwise noted.
  • I attached the Always Artichoke and Riding Hood Red cardstock to the River Rock DSP.  I then put it in the snowflake embossing folder and embossed it as one piece.
  • The polar bear looked lonely sitting on his iceberg, so I added some snowflakes.
  • If you click on the card, you can see the embossed snowflakes a little better.  It looks much sharper in real life.
Thanks for stopping by and ...

Have a great day,

Pam~

MOJO 168 sketch

Another great sketch this week from Julee over at Mojo Monday - The Blog.  This was a fun one!  Since I'm done with my Christmas cards...yea..I decided to make a wintery card.

Here is the sketch ...

I changed a few things but not too many.  I turned my card the other direction for starters and from there the only other change was the little square.  I used a label die and put it at any angle.

Below is my card ...

Stamps:  Cold & Cuddly
Paper:  Old Olive, Cherry Cobbler, Very Vanilla
DSP:  Jolly Holiday
Ink:  Old Olive, Cherry Cobbler, Marina Mist
Accessories:  Prismacolor markers, rhinestones, Nestabilities square and label two dies, Old Olive ribbon
All products are SU unless otherwise noted.

I tried using Picasa 3 for my picture enhancements.  From the looks of "fixing" it, I need a lot of practice.  I lost the sharpness of the photo ... it looks blurry to me.  I undid everything and tried again but don't think it turned out much better.  I think I would have been better off had I not changed anything ... lol.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a great day!

First PPA challenge

I'm excited to participate in my first PPA challenge.  Head on over to Pals Paper Arts and play along too.  This challenge could not have come at a better time here.  It is freezing...literally...with sleet and icy roads.  The children are happy, they closed the schools early this afternoon.

For this card I used the Cold and Cuddly set.  I thought that was appropriate for this challenge.  It is so cold my walrus turned blue. I used Brocade Blue for the walrus and Mellow Moss for his hat.  The cardstock is Brocade Blue and  Mellow Moss.  I stamped the iceberg in Bashful Blue and used the same color chalk to color it.  The snowflakes were punched and attached with silver brads.  I ran my white paper through my bug with the snow dots embossing folder...and I thought it was done for the season.  I also ran the Mellow Moss paper through the bug with the swiss dots folder.  I sponged the edges of the Mellow Moss that is matted with the snowflake so it would stand out more.

I have seen quite a few cards with only two corners rounded and I love that look.  I kept forgetting about it until I saw Martha's sample.  Thank you Martha!

I really enjoyed doing this challenge and hope to participate in many more.

Thanks for stopping by....
