Let's try vintage ...

I'm having stamping withdrawals right now.  I have been so busy that I have not had much time to stamp.  Right now I'm in up NJ visiting my brother for his 50th birthday.  I came up yesterday to surprise him... love surprises!  Hopefully next week I will have some time to get inky again. Alright, enough of my babbling and on to a great challenge this week at the Pals Paper Arts.

They always say it is good to step out of your comfort zone to become better at something.  Well, I stepped out to do a vintage card for the PPA challenge ... and I like it!  Below is the inspiration photo.

PPA80

My inky fingers went to play and created this ...

Stamps:  Bliss (sale-a-bration)
Paper:  Crumb Cake, Baja Breeze, Very Vanilla
DSP:  Elegant Soiree
Ink:  Crumb Cake, Baja Breeze, Soft Suede
Accessories:  sponge dauber, rhinestones, dimensionals, edge distresser, glue dots, finial press embossing folder
All products are Stampin' Up!
  • The edges were sponged with Soft Suede to give it a vintage look.  Ann, at The Stampin' Schach, is the Queen of vintage.  Be sure to take a peek at her awesome blog.
  • The butterflies were rock n' rolled.  Think I'm on a butterfly kick?  Three on my last card and what do you know, three on this card too.
  • One of my favorite embellishments that Stampin' Up makes are the rhinestones and pearls.  I absolutely love them!
I hope you will find some time to play along with us this week.  I would love to see how you interpret vintage.  I know I will make more cards with a vintage look ... it's fun and has an awesome look!  I am pleased with the results of this card.  Thanks for stopping by and I always enjoy reading what you have to say ... good, bad or indifferent.

Have a great day,
Pam~

OMG...this is just beautiful, Pam. I love how you worked the corner of your frame. You've used your dp so well and made a lovely vintage card. Your butterflies are just gorgeous.
Have a fun time visiting your brother. We had a tad less than 2" of snow last night...guess you had about the same..too bad you missed it. LOL

Incredible Pam! How did you do that frame with the cropped corner? I can't tell if it's recessed, but with the shading, it's perfect!

Mike, I just tore the edges of the paper and then sponged the edges with ink. Is that what you are asking about?

Thanks for the kind words everyone!

Holy cannolli, Pam! You absolutely ROCKED the vintage look! I really like how you used the striped paper to frame your main image and the torn/distressed corner is perfect. I am even more excited to get this set tomorrow after seeing what you did with it. Absolutely fantastic in every way! :)
